IOSH Managing Safely

IOSHThis flagship course from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is aimed at all managers and supervisors, in all businesses. The knowledge gained from the course facilitates effective and safe management, which is in line with best practice. Who should attend?
Managers and supervisors from all industry sectors who require a broad based knowledge of health and safety and safe systems of work.

What will the delegate bring back to the workplace?
● An understanding of their responsibilities
● The practical ability to manage health and safety issues in the workplace
● An understanding of health, safety and environmental management systems and their business benefits
● Risk assessment and control strategies

Upon successful completion of the assessments delegates will be awarded an IOSH Managing Safely certificate, which IOSH recommends is renewed after two years.

Safety Representatives (Employee Consultation)

HSE Key IssueBy appointing safety/employee representatives and setting up a safety committee, employers can meet their legal duty to consult with employees on matters relating to health and safety at work. Representatives can prove a useful addition to the workforce by assisting in accident investigations, representing employees and disseminating information. Safety committees can be invaluable in driving the health and safety management system and contributing to a positive safety culture.

HSE actively encourage worker involvement in making decisions about managing health and safety in the workplace, reinforcing the role of safety/employee representatives and creating genuine partnerships between managers, safety representatives and the wider workforce.
Who should attend?
Newly appointed or existing trade union/non trade union representatives looking to fill their role to maximum effect. Also ideal for members of safety committees.

QSA Approved Auditor course

QSA - Quality Safety Audit Course The course covers the skills and practices of effective safety auditing, including knowledge and understanding of HSG65, experience of auditing safety management systems and competence in the implementation of the QSA system. The course also trains delegates on the use of ORBIT, RoSPA’s new audit software, which is designed to facilitate quick and efficient auditing and reporting upon return to the workplace.
Who should attend?
Professionals in a position to perform an audit of their organisation’s safety management systems. Some knowledge and/or experience of health and safety is required.

Specific outcomes of the QSA Training course:
● Delegates will understand required skills and practices of effective safety auditing
● Delegates will work through HSG65, BS 8800 and OHSAS 180001
● Delegates are trained on a specific and respected auditing system, as well as auditing principles, in use at hundreds of premises, allowing clients to benchmark against other similar clients
● Delegates are given our QSA System in workbook and software format (6month licence) to assist implementation in organisations
● Delegates are examined on their competence
● Delegates submit a ‘live’ audit, which is moderated free of charge by the RoSPA tutor
● Delegates become a ‘RoSPA Approved’ QSA Auditor for their organisation
