Good Childhood Enquiry

The national children's charity the Children's Society has published the first of several reports in response to its Good Childhood Enquiry. [This link to a PDF document opens in a new browser window].

The focus of much of the press comment was on children not being allowed out to play to the same extent as they were in the past. Here you can read RoSPA's reponse (PDF format 22kb) to the consultation for the enquiry. In our comments we highlight the importance of adults helping children to develop an understanding of risk in a range of environments. RoSPA recognises that parents, teachers and a wide range of agencies share the responsibility for keeping children as safe as necessary while enabling them to learn how to live confidently and safely in a world of risk.
