RoSPA Occupational Advanced Driving Test
RoADTest : RoSPA Occupational Advanced Driving Test

The Benefits

Why do the RoADTest? ROADTest

For the first time, occupational drivers can undertake a training programme culminating in a recognised driver qualification which caters for the needs of a driver who drives as part of their work.

The advantages of undertaking RoADTest over and above standard driver training packages are:

  • Benchmarked standard in line with RoSPA Advanced Driving test
  • An advanced driver is 25% less likely to be involved in a road collision
  • Tests driver knowledge, ability and hazard perception
  • Reinforces the training messages over a longer period of time
  • Delivered by appropriately trained and selected trainers
  • A recognised qualification with BTEC accreditation
  • Ensures a minimum standard
  • Potentially lower insurance premiums
  • Drivers have the ‘tools’ for their job
  • Job satisfaction

Tests will only be conducted by appropriately trained examiners. In the event that a driver does not reach a competent standard in each of the modules then the test will not proceed and the remaining time will be spent training.

A test will consist of the following elements:

  • The theory test. This will consist of a thirty minute multiple choice test of twenty questions. The examiner will have a selection of four question papers from which to choose
  • The practical driving test. The principles of the current RoSPA Advanced Driving Test are applied and will be conducted for between fifty and sixty minutes and will take in a variety of roads and environments
  • Hazard perception assessment. This hazard perception assessment will form a maximum of ten minutes of the practical test and will consist of the driver describing the primary hazards all around the car and applying a degree of anticipation in both an urban and ‘faster’ road environment. Early recognition of hazards is essential i.e. reaction to the hazard is made in good time without any rushed actions e.g. late braking

At the end of the test, the driver will be advised of their test result by post. In the event that a driver fails any particular element then that aspect of the test will need to be re-sat. The theory test can be conducted on-line and drivers will be given instructions to go online and complete one of the test papers.

If the pass standard for the practical or hazard perception element is not reached then the driver will be required to attend another training and test day.

Successful drivers will receive a full report and certificate from RoSPA.
