Additional RoSPA Training Courses

All courses are one day unless otherwise noted.

Routine Inspection and Maintenance Course
This course is aimed at those who are responsible for the routine (the daily/weekly) inspections. This highly visual presentation is ideal for small group up to fifteen. The course can incorporate the exams for membership of the Register of Play Inspectors International (rpii) as a routine inspector. If the rpii exam is to be taken then maximum numbers are twelve

Operational Inspection and Maintenance Course (two days)
This course is aimed at those who are responsible for the operational (the one to three monthly) inspections. This highly visual presentation is ideal for small group up to twenty. The course can lead up to the exams for the membership as an operational inspector of the Register of Play Inspectors International. rpii exams would be undertaken on a third day.

Repair and Maintenance
This course is aimed at those responsible for day to day maintenance of play areas and equipment and presents a “hands on” approach on how to deal with maintenance problems.

Managing Litigation
This course is aimed at those responsible for the supervision, and administration of play areas. The course explores legal requirements and the implementation of systems to successfully prevent litigation.

Disability Discrimination Act Course
This course is aimed at those responsible for the supervision of play areas and explores the implications of the Disability Discrimination Act with relation to play areas and provides practical help and advice to play area operators on how best, economically, to meet the requirements of the Act.

Risk Assessment Course
This course is aimed at those responsible for play areas and explores the implications of the Management of Health and Safety Recommendations with regards to play areas.

Water Safety
The course explores practical measures that can be taken to reduce risks with regard to play and recreation near to rivers, streams, open water, ponds etc. In view of recent high profile cases of drowning near to play areas this is a “must” for operators who have water near to their play areas.

Playing Field Safety
This course explores the safety of playing fields and provides practical advice on how to ensure that playing fields are as safe as they need to be.

Playing Field Maintenance
A series of course are available for those involved in pitch care and playing field maintenance. For further details contact RoSPA

European Standard Update Course
The European Standard EN1176 has been going through a major five year review. This course updates operators on the recent changes to the Standard and also deals with changes in interpretation since the standard was first published.

Inspection of Play Areas for Volunteers (Half Day)
This course is aimed at the volunteers at parish and community council level who undertake the regular inspections of their play area. It provides reassurance and recommendations on how volunteers can best undertake this task and prevent successful litigation.


All Participants on RoSPA course receive a RoSPA Certificate of Training. Those who successfully pass the relevant rpii exam receive certification from the rpii that qualifies them for a period of three years for membership in the Register.
