Now is the last chance for businesses and organisations to show their commitment to safety at work by entering the UK’s leading safety scheme, The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents 2001 Occupational Health and Safety Awards, sponsored by RMC Group plc. The awards are open to all sectors of industry and commerce, including healthcare, chemicals, local government, food and drink and transport and distribution. 17/01/01 : COMPANIES AWARDED TOP SAFETY PRIZE AT HOUSE OF LORDS

Two safety-conscious companies have each been presented with a prestigious award from The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and the Esso Petroleum Company. Andrew Robertson, production manager for Hydram Engineering, County Durham, and Matthew Webster, of road surfacing and civil engineering company, Frank Tucker Ltd, Bradford, were both awarded the RoSPA/Esso Scholarship. 17/10/00 : SEEKING A CURE FOR HEALTH WORKERS

Answers to one of the health and caring services’ biggest health problems will be sought at a top-level meeting on Friday, organised by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents is striking a triple blow in the fight against stress at work - a major factor in accidents, absenteeism and lost productivity. The safety of young workers will be the focus of a new internet site to be launched by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and Norwich Union Risk Services. Many companies and organisations are still in the dark about their health and safety performance, The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents said today as it stepped up its campaign to persuade directors to make it a board-level issue. A new task force being set up by the Government to look at ways of preventing accidents involving company vehicles will pave the way for major changes in fleet safety, The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents said today. The task force - announced as part of Government road safety strategies aimed at reducing road deaths by 40 per cent in the next 10 years - will examine the issues raised by RoSPA in its pioneering campaign on managing occupational road risk.
