COMPANIES PRAISED FOR BEHAVIOURAL SAFETY SYSTEMS

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and Ryder Marsh* have honoured more than 30 businesses for the way they manage behavioural safety.

The top award – the Allan Poole Award for Outstanding Achievement – went to Kier Support Services of Sandy, Bedfordshire. Kier were chosen from four finalists by the 320-strong audience at the 5th Annual Behavioural Safety Best Practice Awards and User Conference in Manchester.

The awards are aimed at companies wishing to prove that they can demonstrate an effective and systematic approach to managing behavioural aspects of health and safety.

Roger Bibbings, RoSPA Occupational Safety Adviser, said: “Behavioural safety programmes are an important part of the overall health and safety risk management jigsaw.

“By involving managers and staff and enhancing skills and knowledge, organisations can breathe life into their formal health and safety management systems and help to create sustainable safety culture change.

“These awards not only recognise and celebrate achievement, they provide a powerful bank of exemplars and case studies which others can learn from and emulate.”
