CHILDREN’S DRAMA TO SAVE LIVES IN NORTHERN IRELAND

RoSPA is using drama in schools to tackle the main causes of fire in Northern Ireland homes.

Flaming Fables, a powerful and punchy play for 8 – 11 year olds, is staged by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, HAP (Home Accident Prevention) NI and Replay Productions.

Its tour of schools and other venues throughout the province begins on Monday (Feb 2) and runs until April 2. Many performances are already sold out.

Janice Bisp, RoSPA Home Safety Manager for Northern Ireland, said: “Flaming Fables treats a serious subject in a fun way so that children take on board the messages. It tackles such problems as chip pan fires, the safe storage of smoking materials and using electrical appliances.”

Some tickets are still available at: the Old Museum Arts Centre, Belfast; Market Place Theatre, Armagh; Riverside Theatre, Coleraine; and Island Arts Centre, Lisburn.

Free resources are included in the price of the ticket and group rates are available at all venues.

A full list of venues is available from Janice Bisp, tel: 028 90501160, fax: 028 90501164, e-mail jbisp@rospa.com . Contact venues direct for bookings.
