LATEST INITIATIVE TO TACKLE FLEET DRIVER ACCIDENTS
RoSPA’s latest seminar on managing occupational road risk will look at everything from dealing with the dangers of drink and drugs to using new technology to reduce accidents among fleet drivers.
The Focusing on Performance event will be held at the Holiday Inn, Mold, North Wales, near Chester, on February 18, and is sponsored by Continental Tyres Winter Safety Campaign.
Charles Davis, RoSPA Head of Driver and Fleet Solutions, said: “Our previous seminars on managing occupational road risk (MORR) following the publication of new guidance from the Health and Safety Executive have been highly successful.
“We hope this venue will be attractive for businesses and organisation from Wales and north west England who may not have been able to attend before.
“It has been encouraging to see the response from companies about this subject which is now acknowledged as the UK’s biggest occupational safety problem.”
There will be a briefing on the HSE’s guidance and sessions on how to bring MORR into mainstream health and safety and developing the skills of drivers and their line managers.
The perils facing fleet drivers after a night’s drinking or even taking drugs will be highlighted, as well as how to cope with the new legislation governing mobile phones and driving.
Delegates will be able to find out about innovations from RoSPA, including how to assess drivers online and SenseAbility, a virtual reality test for drivers.
