Enquiry Service
The RoSPA Infocentre offers an extensive enquiry service, answering around 400 health and safety related questions every month. Infocentre staff, the majority graduates in Information Science and trained in health and safety, are available during office hours to deal with enquiries.

Our enquiry service covers the following:

  • Road safety
  • Home/product and leisure safety – including tailored searches of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Home and Leisure Accident Surveillance database of accident statistics. Click to find out more about HASS/LASS.
  • Safety education
  • Water safety

You may contact the Infocentre by telephone, fax or email, and we will always aim to answer your question within three working days (depending on the nature and depth of your enquiry). Click to view our full service standards for non-members (Click here to download this document in PDF format. PDF format 89kb). We do not operate a voice mail service, so if you telephone between 9am and 4pm, you will always speak to a person.

Visits
You are very welcome to visit the Infocentre to use the collection for reference purposes. Please contact us in advance to arrange a mutually convenient time. You are welcome to photocopy items from the collection, subject to copyright. Fees will be charged for photocopying.

Literature searches
We will carry out free literature searches for you on health and safety subjects of interest – for example, mobile phones and driving. We will provide you with a list of relevant journal articles, including an informative abstract. You may then choose to order up to five articles in full-text. A charge is made for this service. Please click on Supplying articles to members of the public for further details.

Resources
The Infocentre is unique in that our resources cover all aspects of health and safety: workplace, home safety, road safety, safety education, product safety, water safety and leisure safety. We also have a range of general reference sources and trade/product directories, but if your enquiry falls outside the scope of our resources, we will put you in touch with other organisations or information services that may answer your query.

In addition to the Infocentre's own database of holdings (totalling 26,000 items), the following is a selection of the resources we have on hand to answer your query:
