Good Practice Guide for setting up and running Home Safety Equipment Schemes
In 2002, Leeds City Council received a DTI Modernisation grant to co-ordinate, develop and encourage safety equipment schemes (loan or low cost) in the Leeds area. Practical support for preventing injuries to young children is vital, however many groups and organisations often struggle to set up and maintain successful child safety equipment schemes for various reasons.
Part of the DTI funding was used to produce a comprehensive set of good practice guidelines that offer practical advice on how to overcome common hurdles that prevent schemes from running successfully, or at all.
The Good Practice Guide (
PDF format 753kb) was researched and developed by Charlotte Orton with support and advice from Gill Gunn (Health Promotion Manager), Ian Mallinson (Principal Environmental Health Officer) Leeds City Council and Anna Cronin De Chavez (Health Promotion Specialist in Injury Prevention) Leeds North West Primary Care Trust.
