Level 2 Intermediate Award in Driver Development
RoSPA have recently received approval from Edexcel to award any driver who has undergone Driver Development Training with a BTEC level 2 intermediate award.
This level 2 BTEC Award is a nationally recognised qualification that allows Driver's to demonstrate their commitment to developing their driving beyond the learner test.
The course lasts for a full day and runs with 2 delegates per course. The course can be run in a car, light goods vehicle, LGV or minibus. The aims of the course are to:
- Develop a positive driving attitude
- Understand how personal factors can affect performance
- Understand the principles of defensive driving
- Develop a systematic, risk assessing approach to driving hazards
- Develop new and enhance existing skills
- Reduce crash risk
- Develop Driving skills in all 3 driving environments; urban, rural and motorway

If you have already taken a Driver Development or Defensive Driver course, don't worry, for £80 Drivers can now be upgraded to gain the qualification, providing they can provide evidence of their attendance on a course in the last 3 years.
