The RoSPA Workforce Involvement in Safety & Health Trophy

This new award, sponsored by Springfields Fuels Ltd, will be presented to the RoSPA Industry Sector Award entrant demonstrating the best performance in this key area. The winner and any commendations will be selected from the entries short listed for RoSPA Industry Sector Awards (and any other Sector Award entries with high scores for Key Performance Questions 3 (also KPQs 4, 6 and 10).
The judges will look for evidence of:
Employee involvement at operational level
e.g. Induction training, information, communications, tool box talks, point of work risk assessments, ‘take 2s’, suggestions schemes, PPE trials, incident reporting, behavioural observation programmes, climate surveys
H&S representation
e.g. Safety representatives (or representatives of employee health and safety) appointed, trained, supported with facilities and time, carrying out inspections and investigations, representing members’ concerns
Representative’s involvement in H&S management processes
e.g.
- Policy development and review
- Planning and implementation
- Risk assessment and review of assessments
- Active monitoring
- Investigation
- Performance review and audit
- Contractor selection and monitoring, awards, 24/7 safety activities etc
Joint consultation
e.g.
- Joint H&S Committees appointed and functioning
- Objectives and programmes of work
- Specific initiatives
- Strategic decision-making
